The first match of Day 2 of the 2014 Men’s Youth Pan Am Championships, which is the continental qualifier for the 2014 Youth Olympic Games, was between Guatemala and Canada. On a very overcast morning Canada scored their 1st goal in the second minute of play by # 7, J.Singh, with a last post tap in. They quickly score their 2nd item of the contest within a minute to bring the score to 2-0. Canada scored their 3rd item of the match from a rebound off the board which is swept into the goal by their captain, B. Panesar, to the dismay of the Guatemala keeper. Just seconds before the end of the 1st period Canada scored their 4th goal from a reverse stick strike by # 9, V Sandhu.
Canada surged ahead with 2 more goals early in the 2nd period. They then scored 5 more goals within the period to bring the score to 11-0. In the dying seconds of the 2nd period Canada #12, A. Sidhu, scored a reverse stick shot which lobed the keeper to bring the score to 12-0. Canada scored early in the 3rd period with a 2v1 against the Guatemalan goal keeper, Morales Bautista. Despite a lot of gutsy play and spirited defending by Guatemala, Canada were able to score 7 goals within the 3rd period and end the game 19-0.
