The last match of Day 3 of the Men’s Youth Pan Am Championships featured USA vs. Argentina. With some quick attacking Canada scored their 1st goal early in the contest, with a field goal by their captain # 19, B. Panesar. Panesar scored again only moments later to bring the score to 2-0. USA then won a penalty challenge which #8, J. Schindler, skillfully converted to bring the score to 2-1. One minute later Canada # 18, B. Pereira, scored a powerful undercut which beat the keeper for their 3rd goal of the contest. The 1st period ended 3-1 in favor of Canada.
Just minutes into the 2nd period USA converted a 2 v 1 against the Canada goalkeeper with a last post tap in by #12 J. Singh. Canada then replied within seconds to bring the score to 4-2. With the game getting faster and more physical as time went on USA won a penalty challenge which was converted by #8, J. Schindler. With a flurry of goals in the 2nd period both teams are able to increase their scores with Canada having the better of the match up to end the period 6-4.
With quick substitution and endless pressure both teams started the 3rd period fairly even but USA was able to score by a strike by #12, J Singh, to claw their way back into the game. Just moments before the end of the match Canada won a challenge but failed to convert. The last match of the day ended 6-5 in favor of Canada.The completion of the round-robin matches see top finisher, Argentina and second place Canada gain access to the semi-final round. The two qualification matches to start off the action on Day 4 will feature Mexico vs. Puerto Rico and USA vs. Guatemala.
