Trinidad and Tobago and Dominican Republic played to a 2-2 draw in the first Pool B match of the day at the 2014 Central American and Caribbean Games (Women).
In a keenly contested first half which ended 2-2, Blair WYNNE’s 6th minute penalty corner strike gave Trinidad and Tobago a brief 1-0 lead against the Dominican Republic until Benifer MORONTA scored the equalizer 2 minutes later from a penalty corner. MORONTA scored a penalty stroke, her second goal, in the 20th minute but Trinidad drew level from a well-executed penalty corner four minutes before the end of the half.
It was a tale of missed opportunities in the second half as neither team could find the quality to convert any of the numerous opportunities they created. Trinidad came the closest to scoring in the first minute when Dominican Republic was forced into a goal line clearance. The match ended with neither team adding to the 2-2 first half time score line.
Dominican Republic have ended their pool matches on 7 points. Trinidad and Tobago who are currently on 4 points will play Guyana in their final Pool B match on 20 November 2014 at 7:30 a.m.
