Barbados beat Jamaica 1-0 in the rescheduled Pool A Women’s match to register their first victory at the 2014 Central American and Caribbean Games.
Barbados started the brightest on a cool and overcast morning having most of the possession in the opening 10 minutes of the game. Jamaica finally found their legs and were able to launch a few attacks but they could not get past Barbados’ last line of defence. Barbados continued to have majority possession as the half progressed and this paid off when Cher KING converted a penalty corner two minutes before the end of the first half, which ended 1-0.
Barbados continued to dominate possession in the second half and were awarded a penalty stroke but goals scorer Cher KING flicked wide. Jamaica’s Captain and goalkeeper, Lorie Ann MCINTOSH made several good saves to keep her team in the match as Jamaica went in search of an equalizing goal. Unfortunately however they were not able to convert any of their chances and Barbados came away 1-0 winners.
Barbados are now in third place and Jamaica who are winless after two games are at the bottom of Pool A.
