Host country Mexico won their second match in Pool A of the 2014 Central American and Caribbean Games (Women) when they beat Jamaica 4-0.
Mexico scored three goals in eleven minutes to take a 3-0 half time lead against Jamaica. The home team had most of the early possession keeping Jamaica pegged back in their defensive half. Mexico eventually found the back of the net when Eliana COTA put away a penalty corner in the 20th minute. Maria CORREA made it 2-0 five minutes later and Karen OROZCO then added a 3rd goal four minutes before the end of the half.
Jamaica paid the price for conceding several penalty corners in the opening 10 minutes of the second half when Mexico’s Dafne CARMONA converted one and added a 4th goal for her team. Jamaica earned several penalty corners of their own but could put any of them away. Both teams lost players to penalty cards in the final 10 minutes of the match.
Mexico ended the day on 6 points with 2 wins in 2 games and Jamaica who have played all of their pool games are at the bottom of the table with 0 points.
