Match Report

CHILE BLANKS MEXICO AND AWAIT THEIR RIVAL FOR THE 5TH PLACE MATCH UP 

A backhand shot from # 31 Franco Becerra with just 0.1 second remaining on the clock for the end of the match sealed Chile's 8-1 over Mexico. This result puts the South Americans to play for the fifth and sixth place of the Pan American Cup held in Lancaster, Pennsylvania (United States) on August the 12 at 12.15.

Chile played a tactical match, and forced Mexico to play their game. From the second quarter, on, after a well executed penalty from Vicente Martín, Chile was able to arrive with great effectiveness to Moisés Vargas Circle. After that 1-0, everything was easier for Chile.

Axel Richter with a penalty corner 24 'marked the 2-0 and motivated the Mexicans who scored thanks to a penalty executed by Yamil Méndez. A goal from Ignacio Contardo backhand finds José Hurtado for the 3-1 return to put Chile in the path of the goal. Contardo scored at 43 'and Axel Richter at 45'(penalty corner)

In the fourth quarter was Martin Rodriguez the protagonist with two good goals : 56 'diving and deflecting the ball and 58' with a sweep inside the central circle. Over the end of the match Franco Becerra fired to make the eighth goal while end of the match sound was heard.

México deberá disputar el partido de consuelo por el 7° y 8° puesto mañana sábado a las 10:00 ante el perdedor del partido Brasil-Venezuela.

Mexico will  be playing the 7th and 8th match tomorrow at 10:00 against the Brazil-Venezuela loser.
