2022 ODESUR Games - Day 2

Today the women’s side of Odesur 2022 kicked off.

In the round robin, Peru and Uruguay started off the day before the host nation Paraguay took on Argentina–one of the most anticipated games by the general audience.

Chile, meanwhile, rested  and will play their first match on Wednesday against Peru, wrapping up the group.

URUGUAY 14 - PERU 0

In the long-awaited start of Odesur 2022, Uruguay beat Peru 14-nil.

The “cimarronas” showed complete superiority over their Peruvian counterparts all through the match.

Peru’s best chance to score came during the third quarter, but they fell short of being able to convert the only short corner opportunity into a goal.

Uruguay’s goals were scored by Viana Teresa x 5, Gomez Magdalena, Vilar Manuela x 4, Cuturchague Lupe, Barrandeguy Constanza, Dall'Orse Kaisuami and Algorta Milagros.

Uruguay’s next match will see them face off against Argentina on October 6th at 7:00 p.m., while Peru will rest until October 8th, when they face the local Paraguay, at 3:00 p.m.

ARGENTINA 13 – PARAGUAY 0

As the first day of the tournament came to a close, we saw the matchup between the favorite Argentina and the hometown team Paraguay, playing to a sold-out crowd.

The vast technical and tactical difference of the “Lionesses” was apparent throughout the match and would be a determining factor in defining the scoreboard. Despite being less effective in the set pieces, Argentina managed to stretch the advantage in the last quarter, closing the final score at 13.

The Argentine goals were scored by: Trinchinetti Eugenia x 2, Adorno Maria x 3, Andrade Catalina, Thome Delfina x 2, Forcherio Maria x 2, Delpech Ines and Cairo Sofia x 2.

Regarding cards, the “Lionesses” obtained two and Paraguay only one.

In the next match date for the tournament, Paraguay will face Chile at 5:00 p.m. and Argentina will face Uruguay at 7:00 p.m.
