Dr. Michelle Dianne Holt, OD, has been awarded the Order of Distinction in the Rank of Officer for her exceptional service in the field of Medicine.
With more than 40 years of experience, Dr. Holt has become a leading figure not only in healthcare but also in the advancement of sports and sports medicine in Jamaica.
Beyond her extensive professional career, Dr. Holt is a member of the PAHF Health and Safety Panel, where she continues to contribute to strengthening medical and safety standards across hockey in the Americas.
In a recent interview with The Gleaner, Dr. Holt emphasized the importance of sports in the overall development of young people and encouraged parents to support sports participation as a complement to academic success.
“When you participate in sports, it actually helps academics. It keeps you alert, motivated, and focused. I’ve seen many students improve their grades thanks to sports participation,” she shared.
Passionate about both medicine and sports, Dr. Holt believes that this honor, though awarded in the field of medicine, also recognizes her dedication to sports medicine and her lifelong commitment to athletes:
“Being recognized for medicine, but knowing that part of it is for my contribution to sports medicine, is truly wonderful,” she said.
The hockey community across the Americas proudly celebrates this well-deserved recognition of a professional who has combined science, passion, and service to advance both sport and athlete wellbeing.
Congratulations, Dr. Michelle Holt, on this remarkable achievement and your tireless dedication to health and sport!
