On the fourth day of competition of the ODESUR 2022, in the women's branch, Chile faced Paraguay, obtaining its second consecutive victory by winning 6 to 0.
Later that day, Argentina took a hard-earned win against Uruguay, in what was one of the most disputed matches of the tournament.
CHILE 6 – PARAGUAY 0 (women)
In a close and even start, the home team managed to keep the score at zero for the first ten minutes of the match, having also received a penalty corner in their favor. However, Chile’s defense managed to prevail, leading the team to score the first goal going into the break 1-nil up.
In the second quarter the “Diablas” sharpened their aim in the short shots and were able to stretch the advantage to 5 over the “Aguaras”.
The third quarter showed a more evenly matched competition and Paraguay had some chances in attack. However, in the last half, Chile sealed the victory with the last and sixth goal of the match.
The goals of the “Diablos” were scored by: Kim Jacob x 2, Fernanda Villagran, Mariana Lagos and Fernanda Arrieta x 2.
Camila Caram, captain of the team led by Sergio Vigil, played her 250th match. Her Paraguayan counterpart, Gianinna Zambrini completed 50 games defending the red and white.
The next date on the competition schedule will be played on October 8. Paraguay receives Uruguay at 7:00 p.m. and Chile faces Argentina at 5:00 p.m.
ARGENTINA 1 – URUGUAY 0 (women)
In the most evenly fought game played so far, Argentina and Uruguay were not able to open the score in first half. Not being able to effectively convert from their set pieces, the Argentinians led by Fernando Ferrara managed to prevail only in the second quarter with a conversion from a penalty corner.
Uruguay attacked and kept up the pressure until the end, however there were no surprises by the end of the third quarter. In the last quarter Argentina had five short corners but could not add to the score.
The Uruguayan squad had the last final opportunity to score, with a shot that went incredibly close to the right post of the Argentine goalkeeper.
The only goal was converted by Eugenia Trinchinetti. Argentina had a yellow card and a green card and Uruguay only a green card.
On the next date of competition that will be played on October 8, Argentina receives Chile at 5:00 p.m. and Uruguay will face Paraguay at 7:00 p.m.
