Argentina and USA are headed to the women’s final of the 2025 Pan American Cup, each securing hard-fought semifinal victories. With their wins, both teams have also officially punched their tickets to the 2026 FIH Hockey World Cup.
Argentina beat Canada 9-1 in the opening semifinal with a four-goal game from Tomas Domene and a celebration of 100 internationals for Thomas Habif. The USA-Chile semifinal was tense and tied 1-1 in regular time and the USA stunned their opponents with a 3-1 victory in shootouts to return to the Pan American final for the first time since 2009.
On Day 7 of the Pan American Cup both Mexican sides were victorious. Two empty-net goals in the fourth quarter added the cushion for a 4-1 win for the Mexico men’s side over hosts, Uruguay. The women beat Paraguay 4-1 thanks to two penalty corner goals from Dayana Cuevas.
USA men and Chile women each edged out 1–0 wins, while Argentina’s Leones cruised past Uruguay 12–0 to close pool play.
Day 5 at the Pan Am Cup saw Argentina and Chile dominate, while Uruguay’s women punched their ticket to the semifinals with a 2–0 win over Canada.
Day 4 of the Pan American Cup saw a 3-0 win for Argentina over USA men, while the USA women beat Chile 5-2. Brazil edged Uruguay 2-1 in the final game of the day.

The Pan American Hockey Federation (PAHF) announces that the national team of Trinidad and Tobago has officially informed that, due to logistical reasons, it will not be participating in the Pan American Cups 2025, to be held in Montevideo, Uruguay.
Hockey in most countries is an amateur sport, although played at a high-performance level. But in some places, it can be more amateur than in others. Conditions, infrastructure, and the budget allocated to the development of the sport—all these factors influence how many sacrifices players must make to wear their national team’s jersey. Talent alone is not enough.
